Baltic Isles, Berlin & Poland 2017

Tucked away in the calm waters of the Baltic Coast are a cluster of beautiful islands that rival the likes of the Mediterranean and other holiday destinations with their dreamy landscapes, mild climate and unique atmosphere. By far the best way to see them is by cruise ship, admiring the stunning coastline and visiting picturesque resorts while your floating hotel follows you. You can do just that on our exclusive itinerary as we cruise from island to island, taking you to places not usually seen on other cruises, where the pressures of everyday life will soon be a million miles away. Bask in the sun on the isle of Usedom, discover the natural beauty of Rügen, enjoy the tranquillity on the car-free island of Hiddensee – the jewel of the Baltic, and so much more. You can also try a taste of urban life with a visit to the fascinating Polish town of Szczecin and an overnight stay in Berlin, Germany’s vibrant capital.

Day 1: UK – Berlin (Air & Rail)
We travel by air or rail to Berlin, the capital of Germany, and check in at our overnight hotel.

Day 2: Berlin – Baltic Coast
Start the day with our optional city tour, which is led by a qualified and experienced guide. It’s a wonderful opportunity to see the highlights of Berlin and hear about the rich history and culture of the area. In the afternoon we take the coach to Stralsund, a little town which lies on a strait of the Baltic Sea, and board our ship.

Day 3: Stralsund – Greifswald
This morning you can join our optional walking tour of Stralsund. The historical centre is a delight to explore, with imposing churches, Ggothic gabled houses and the beautiful town hall with its distinctive facades. We set sail in the afternoon and cruise along the Baltic Ccoast of Germany, stopping in the harbour of Greifswald Wieck, outside the Hanseatic town of Greifswald.

Day 4: Peene River Delta – Szczecin Lagoon – Szczecin
Relax on deck and admire the passing scenery as we spend a full day cruising towards Poland, which takes us along the tranquil waters of the Peene river and across the Szczecin lagoon. Our destination is Szczecin, a lively city and the capital of West Pomerania, which you can explore on our optional tour.

Day 5: Świnoujście
This morning we set sail for the seaport of Świnoujście in the extreme north-west of Poland. Here you can join our optional tour to see the fabulous scenery of Wolin, Poland’s largest island, which has a national park at its centre.

Day 6: Usedom
Usedom is our destination today, one of Germany’s most popular holiday resorts due to its stunning natural beauty. You can join our optional excursion which takes you on a scenic drive through the hills to Ahlbeck, home to the oldest and longest sea bridge of continental Europe. We also visit the seaside town of Heringsdorf. In the afternoon we sail from Karnin to Peenemunde, a small village on Usedom, and stay overnight.

Day 7: Rügen
We reach the island of Rügen this morning and stop at the village of Lauterbach, where you can join an optional excursion on the Rushing Roland steam railway, travelling from Putbus to the elegant resort of Göhren. You can then spend the afternoon relaxing onboard our ship as we cruise to Vitte on the idyllic island resort of Hiddensee.

Day 8: Hiddensee
Hiddensee has a unique atmosphere and is often referred to as the jewel of the Baltic. It is a car-free island which can only be reached by ships; therefore our optional excursion takes you by horse-drawn carriage to see the beautiful landscape. You can then relax onboard and enjoy the views as we cruise back to Stralsund on the mainland of Germany.

Day 9: Stralsund – Cologne (Air)
After breakfast passengers travelling by air will be transferred to Berlin airport for the return flight. Passengers travelling by rail take the train to Cologne for an overnight stay.

Day 10: Cologne – London (Rail)
Enjoy free time or make the most of your visit by joining our included city tour to see the highlights of Cologne, which has a long list of attractions led by its famous gothic cathedral – the most visited building in Germany. In the afternoon we retrace the route to Brussels for the return Eurostar connection to London.
