Join The River Cruise Line on the Elegant Elbe, Berlin and Prague River Cruise 2017 to see the understated grace of eastern Europe.

We board our ship in Prague, the Czech Republic’s picture-perfect capital, before sailing on to the historic city of Dresden, with its magnificent baroque architecture. Our cruise ends in Germany’s vibrant capital, Berlin, a city etched in world history. Winding through virtually untouched landscapes and visiting an enchanting variety of towns and cities, this is a fascinating cruise experience you will never forget.

Day 1: UK – Nuremberg (Rail)
We travel by Eurostar from London to Brussels and join the local rail network to reach Nuremberg, where we check in at our overnight hotel.

Day 2: Nuremberg – Prague (Air)
After an early breakfast we travel by rail to Prague. Venture into the historic centre and you will find plaques which point out tourist landmarks on a circular route – this is the Silver Line through Golden Prague, a great way to explore the city at your own pace before we board our ship in the mid afternoon. Those travelling by air join today.

Day 3: Prague - Melnik
This morning you can join our optional city tour to see the highlights and attractions Prague has to offer. In the early afternoon we set sail along the River Vltava (also known as the Moldau) and cruise to the attractive town of Melnik in the Czech Republic, on the confluence of the Elbe and Vltava, where we stop overnight.

Day 4: Melnik – Bad Schandau
Today we join the River Elbe and enjoy a full day cruising, taking in wonderful scenery as we head towards our overnight stop in Bad Schandau.

Day 5: Bad Schandau – Dresden
Our cruise route takes us through the breathtaking landscape of Saxon Switzerland. We reach Dresden in the early afternoon, nicknamed ‘Florence on the Elbe’, where you can take an optional city tour to see the highlights of this fascinating place.

Day 6: Dresden – Meissen
Enjoy some free time in Dresden before we cruise to Meissen, where you can join our optional excursion of this city. It is chiefly famed for its production of fine porcelain which you can learn about on our optional visit to the House of Meissen.

Day 7: Meissen – Wittenberg
Early this morning we set sail for Wittenberg, home to the most important and interesting Reformation museum in Germany – The Luther House. Take advantage of this optional excursion to follow in the footsteps of Martin Luther and see the town’s historic landmarks.

Day 8: Wittenberg – Magdeburg
Another early sailing takes us to Magdeburg. Join our optional city tour and see the many beautiful sights and attractions which bear witness to the city’s long history.

Day 9: Magdeburg – Berlin
We disembark our ship this morning and travel to Germany’s capital city, Berlin. Check in at our overnight hotel and then enjoy free time in this wonderful city or join our optional guided city tour.

Day 10: Berlin – UK (Rail & Air)
After breakfast passengers travelling by air are transferred to the airport for the return flight. Passengers travelling by rail retrace the route to Brussels for the return Eurostar connection.

By Air

Air travel is included on selected cruises, it includes taxes, one item of checked in baggage per couple, a seat in economy class and return transfers from the airport to the ship.

Eurostar from London St Pancras

Enjoy the benefits of rail travel – boarding at London St Pancras International, you will be whisked effortlessly along by Eurostar whilst relaxing in your reserved seat. You have the freedom to stretch your legs whenever the mood takes you and purchase drinks and snacks from the buffet carriage.

On selected cruises there are rail options included in the price, whereas on other cruises it is offered alongside our coach travel option – please note a supplement will apply and transfers to the ship are not included except for cruises certain cruises.

Join at the Ship

You are of course free to make your own way to and from the ship by booking your flight/ferry or train tickets independently – a small reduction applies. With your joining instructions we will send you a map of where the ship is berthed and also a boarding time.
