Overview

The award-winning African Queen is approximately 30.5 metres in length with two decks. It has been beautifully converted by its loving owners and is one of only a handful of floating hotels that sails along the River Thames. The African Queen accommodates 14 passengers, ensuring a warm and friendly atmosphere onboard. The barge includes a bar, dining area and sun deck to ensue your stay on this character-filled home is all it can be and more.

Bar

The communal area offers a bar with comfortable seating. It provides a great setting to mingle with your fellow guests and enjoy a few drinks as you sail along with opulent views of the Thames.

Restaurant

Onboard, you can enjoy the hospitality and cuisine in the dining area. The crew will serve a mixture of traditional English cuisine and delicious Dutch and Cape Malay-style dishes. While Andy is the host, his wife Bonny is responsible for the great meals onboard.

Cabins

The African Queen has eight cabins – choose from twins, doubles, a double superior and singles cabins. All Cabins have en suite facilities and a small window that opens and allows plenty of natural light in

Meet the captain

Andy CowleyAndy Cowley 

Andy is originally from the Isle of Wight but emigrated to South Africa as a boy, which is where he met his wife, Bonny. Andy returned to the UK in his 50s with his wife and in 2004 they bought the African Queen. Having sailed it across the Irish Sea, they spent eight months converting it into the wonderful floating hotel it is today.

While Andy is the host, his wife Bonny is responsible for the great meals onboard.
