Rüdesheim
Rüdesheim is a typical, quaint wine town with half-timbered buildings, narrow back alleys and wine bars serving the Rheingau region's finest Riesling wines. From the Rhine's waters you can gaze up at the awesome cliff tops from where the fairytale castles gaze down. For views over the valley though a cable car ride 37 metres up the hillside to the Niederwald Monument is a must. If you aren't a fan of heights then maybe you would prefer to visit the fascinating Siegfried's Mechanical Music Museum showing examples of early 1900 music systems. On your walk back to the Rhine you should seek out the captivating inclined street called the Drosselgasse and sample a famous Rüdeheim coffee in a traditional German bar.
